rudder location

hi, have always mounted rudder in line with the engine stringer(done both right and left)and was woundering what happens to the handling of the boat when it is moved in or out? does it change the pivot point(moment of the boat), and at what point does it get critical? thanks,mike.

Sounds like a try it and see what the results are scenario. Every hull will respond differently.
