Thanks Fastcat,

I will give them a call, are you by chance coming to Evansville in a couple of weeks for the Eville event? I was going to go down there and try to get some info about rigger boats. I am as green as they come and I need all the help I can get.

Not this year, I did go to Evansville in 2004 and the driver stand and lake was perfect,Great place to race rcboats! I see you would like to try a 90 rigger, when I was new in it back in 1977 everybody told me to get a .21 outboard tunnel hull or a .21 mono. These boats are easy to setup and alot of fun to race, learn with these boats first for a year or two and then make your next step into a .21 rigger. Riggers are too fast for somebody new. Start with a small .21 tunnel hull with a k/b .21 outboard or a OS Max .21 Outboard engines, cheap and easy to work on. This way you will see if you like without spending alot of money! Go to evansville and learn alot, tons of fun! Talk to ya later--FC

I tried using DF engines in a marine application but found that the crank would not allow me to turn the crankcase so the exhaust port is to the rear of the boat. The marine crank has a bevel on it to clear the piston skirt at BDC but the DF motor doesn't and is meant to run with the exhaust in the other direction (towards the carb side). All that time I figured all that needed to be done was to turn the crankase around and put a marine cooling head on the engine. WRONG. Make sure that the motor will turn over with the exhaust facing the rear of the boat before investing a lot of money in the motor setup. Be careful, if you grind away the skirt of the piston to clear the crank, you end up with sub-piston induction. Unfortunately I didn't check this out and outsmarted myself. A lot of wasted money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

You know the old saying, do as I say not as I do. Experience is one of the greatest teachers. I've learnt my lesson on that one.

If someone knows of a way to get around this, please let me know as the engines just sit around.

Ckeck this out on EBAY, may be a way to go

item# 250292809560
Thanks for the heads up. I'm keeping my eye on that one.

Is than any draw back with the Rossi's vs the K&b or the CMB?

What ever I buy, I don't want to spend money on something that will be opsollete soon.

Buy the CMB ENGINE, it is light years ahead of any glow engine on the plant! My friend has been running CMB since 1977 and those old CMBs are still running today! The rossi 90 will not hold up, do not waste your time and money on a rossi 90and k/b engines. If you got the money , buy the big dog and call it a day--FC

You know what Wally, I wish I would have talked with you a week ago. I did the exact same thing to my DF engine.

It seems I am always trying something stupid like that. Well, another expensive lesson learned. Why do we do these things when there is so many knoledgeable people, like yourself, on these forums?

Anytime you what to stop me before I do something else stupid, just chime in.

Thanks Wally
