I just took out my first rigger yesterday... it went but that was about it. I have no experience in riggers and there are no people in my area that do boats, let alone riggers. I have a blizzard that I ran 6 cells with a 15x4 speed gems and a 1245 prop. Now I am asking for help to get moving right, not for criticism. The boat had a really hard time getting up on plane. It made a churning and gurgling sound. When it did get on plane it only went 13-15 mph. The back also was sitting very low eventhough I had angled the prop way down. What can I do to get it up on plane better and increase my speed? Am I over propped? Any help is better than none.

hi

simple prop is way out

set the strut flat and drop to a sharpened and balanced y535 or X632 to start with

you should have beter speed and punch out of the hole as the motor will be able to spin the prop

BTW that prop would work for 14 cells and a 700BB not a 05

The X or the Y series are definitely better at getting you on plane. The hydro props like yours rarely seem to be used in electrics, and I think this is why. They do a lot of slinging of the water(causing lift), so they don't bite well. Give the boat a really big push. You can also try getting on the throttle a little slower. And of course, the easy and better way out,..... use those props Andrew suggested. The really hard way is add some cup to the prop(www.rcboat.com).

I chose the prop I did because the hardware I ordered came with a 3/16 shaft. All of the props I hear recommended are 1/8 shaft. Can I modify or do I need to buy a new shaft?

You can buy a 1/8 step down shaft from Climate or Fullers. Are you running the back Sponson's?

Can you post pics of the setup? Also try an extra cell.

Sorry, I can't send a pic, camera is loaned out. I can run and want to run 8 cells. I was told not to use the rear sponsons. Bad idea? What about 8 cells? Are there any props I can use on a 3/16 shaft? I am a poor college student that has had to save for a year to get where I am now and am broke.

The Blizzard is a tough first 6 cell setup. The rear sponsons will help with the lower power setups. I say run 8 cells keep the prop you have and put the rear sponsons on. I don't have experiance with the mod 05 motors so I'm not sure if thats to hot a wind for 8 cells. Hopefully someone else will jump in.
