Guys, I am building an electric retrieve boat powered with two 550 size brush type electric drill motors (cheap) running on 14.4 volts.

The question is, I am using a 2.4 radio system and a 5.8 video system. Do you think that I will need any type capacitor on each motor to make sure that I do not have enough RF interference to effect either system?

Thanks,

Charles

You should be ok as the 2 systems are operating at 2 different frequencies. My only suggestion is to make sure you close both systems i.e. No open wiring allowing ingress to cause interference. Use good connectors with insulated sleeves. If a problem arises look at the 2.4 side ...lots of things can interfere with it planes, garage doors, old home phones, network printers, routers, and the biggest culprit is cable and satellite tv service.

Thanks for the reply.

I am in unknown territory with the electrical system on this boat. The power leads to and from the controller are about 26 inches long each due to this boats design (twin pontoons with a raised connecting platform between them with a low CG). I plan on separating and shielding the power cables into pairs. Also shielding and twisting the servo leads separate too. They will be ran completely separate from the power leads. I was just not sure if the motors would have any RF interference on the radio or the FPV video systems.

I guess that I will have to test this when I finish this boat.....after I finish the Zoom carbs
