Hi,

I am wondering if there is anyone that can help me get a replacement cowl for a Bandit tunnell hull. I am pretty sure it is an older type- Bandit One. I didn't have the foresight to fit up flotation to it & managed to lose it on the weekend. Pretty disappointing, as I am just getting into the sport. I have had the boat for about 2 years. I just started to get the boat to run properly, and the guy I bought it from had a great spray job done on it. :( I'm in Sydney, Australia. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Craig.

Julian,

Thanks for your reply. I have tried ebay, but no luck there. I will try going out to the next local club meeting at Penrith, in Sydney . I went out a couple of weeks ago & the guys seemed very helpful. I am hoping one of them might have a mould I can use, or buy one of their old cowls, if it fits. It seems to be a pretty common sort of boat, so I would have thought getting a cover would be fairly easy, but no luck so far. I am trying to get the cowl replaced asap. Any other ideas?

Craig.

im wondering if tt changed the overall mounting of the cowl when they went to the version 2 hull..... id bet they didnt,,so the bandit 2 cowl should fit... alot more stores / online sources are carrying them today...it wouldnt hurt to contact some of them... tower hobbies,,,omni models,,hop me up rc,, there are several places to look...problem is most u have to physically ask for the part...

Alden,

thanks for the tip. I will take some pics of the boat & post on here. I think the new ones have a different cowl that starts at the back of the windscreen. My cowl goes all the way from the front of the tunnell to the back. At the front, it hooks over the front part of the tunnell section. From what I can see, the new ones are different, that's why I think its an old hull, plus I bought it second hand.

In hindsight, fitting up flotation to the cowl would have been quite easy.. The search continues..

ac..

I would prefer to keep the boat I have, if I can.. but on the topic of a new hull, would I be better to go for an Aquacraft VS1 and fit the Thunder Tiger engine to that? They seem pretty popular over here in Aus..

Craig.

you could do that or the ts3... ive seen them perform well even in full mod engine form... kevin,,, (kroggs) on here has a ts3 with a full mod tt i did for him... screams right along....

whoa whoa whoa,,,, back up a little here... did you say your cowl hooks under the nose of the center section????? if so,,, then i believe you have the wrong name of your hull... for sure post pics... the thunder tiger bandit hull (original one) has a cowl that is just the center to rear section... in other words it starts right behind the windshield decal like a leecraft hull....

the bandit 3.5 2 has part of the winshield on the cowl... maybe yours is a version 2.???

Nope. I'm so confused! I thought it was a bandit hull, coz it has a thunder tiger engine. I'll post pics in a few hours, when I get home. The cover hooks over the front of the tunnel, then uses "D" clips to hold it down at the back. Im hoping Ian from Hooters racing can help!
