Anyone out there know roughly what the induction opening and period numbers are typically like on a soft reed valve?

I am missing what you are asking? Reeds valve will flow so long as lower pressure is on the downstream side or ram effect is present in the intake track.

@ opening of reeds is right after BDC and closing within @ 10 degrees or so ATDC

I have worked with reed engines a LOT, what are you atempting to try? <_< Scott

Yamaha motocross 125 is documented as ..

With the piston skirt allowing a duration of 280 degrees,

At lower rpm the reeds opened at 120 degrees before TDC closing at 40 degrees after TDC, a duration of 160.

At close to maximum rpm speeds, the reeds opened at 80 degrees before TDC and closed at 120 after TDC. duration of 200 degrees

I remember seeing a reed block on an OPS engine years ago, maybe a .60 (10cc)? I'd think it would probably make great torque throughout the band but might not breathe well enough for great top end...

I can't get the pics loaded (their size is small!). Hey one of you guys, please give me your email to send the pics of an OPS .60 engine with reed valve induction to you...

Thanks

Thanks Dave - exactly what I wanted to know B)

HINT!

Could be used on a motor that has less induction timing than a disk or a drum tho'!
