Are any clubs or individuals using a bass raider 10e for a recovery boat ? Looking for any reviews or opinions

Yes we Had one for a couple years. it wasnt a bad boat but it was slow. its sits a little too high in the water, a good thing about it was that it was a little more stable as it was a little harder to tip over.

all in all it was a good starter recovery boat.

Had one, too slow, doesn't plane.

Got one of these: http://www.trackerboats.com/boat/?boat=3682

Works great, but I'm not 300 lbs...

We currently use a 12ft jon .but the non salad eaters keep flipping it .ive fished on one of these and it was super stable. But i can see no room for boats .since we don't have a ramp at our site i was thinking this is a good lift able option but i guess not

Here in Florida we have this Craig's Cat I think they are centered in Mt. Dora? Never checked it but seen one at a boat store and they can handle up to 30 HP and the comercials they haul A$$. But still for race day you can only pick up two maybe three boats??

Later!!

Having spent my fair share of time picking up dead wood over the days, in a variety of recovery boats-

IMHO a 14-16 ft john boat with a rack is the way to go. The v hulls work, but a john is much more stable, the wider the better.

This is what I am thinking about for the club. This boat is only going to be used for the race weekend. Our current 12 footer is fine for Test and Tunes but it's very narrow so we're looking for something a bit more stable, can hold a bigger motor and the extra length doesnt hurt. . It's 190 pounds. For a race weekend I don't think we'll have any problems getting it in the water with 3-4 people.

....and Mike, do tell. How many times you've seen our retrieval boat has flip over? I've been in the club for five years and havent seen it flip once. And my non salad eating ass has retrieved more members boats than anyone in the club over that time period. Travis is the only one I've seen get wet because he jumped in the boat during a race, but he is probably the lightest member of the club. This new boat is about providing better retrieve service during our district race.

I did fall out of it, kinda before i ever got all the way in. Sat down in about 2' of water. Not the boats fault, just my gimpy knee. Don't have to be big, my 165 lb. butt can bring water in just setting bouys. Our present boat is just too narrow for race day use.

Four times

My roommate kelly did it twice but he is clumsy. Robins incident and the new guy with the gas cats flipped out of it

Well this is a safety issue and we need to address it. If this is only a matter of the boat tipping on it's side while people are getting in/out I suggest we require any time someone get's in the boat, we have a second person at the bow holding the corners to keep it steady. We don't need anyone twisting a knee or breaking an ankle.

The times I've seen is due to people trying to stand up in the boat or leaning over the edge to far .the times kelly did it was due to standing he is used to my jon boat that you can do that in .the new guy did the same he was trying to stand to lift the motor higher

How else do you pick up a water logged Thunderboat or Cracker Box/J skiff ???

If your using a narrow beam 12 - your asking for issues. JMHO nothing more.

Yup, that's why we're on the hunt for a wide 14' (-;. Our club's next dist. 12 race isn't until late next spring/early summer, & winter is a good time to find deals on boats. So it's not an immediate "must have", we will need ice skates before we need a new retrieve boat.....

Yeah, but ya still gotta idle back in - but getting out there will be a blast!! Still too narrow, though......
