Hi Guys, my son has what we beleive is a old coyote .45 boat. It has no rear sponsons. The boat runs very good as is but I was wondering if anyone runs with no rear sponsons? Also does anyone have a extra set or rears that they would want to part with at the right price? Your help is greatly appreciated.

I have patterns for the entire .45 Coyote, fronts, rears, tub. Your welcome to use them,if you care to build some sponsons.

Ron Jr. That would be great, how can I get a set of plans from you? my email is [email protected] or I can pick them up and have a set made from yours, thanks again.

Roy,

I have been running riggers of all sizes for over 30 yrs with no rear sponsons or ride pads of any kind, with very good results.

My good buddy Mark Grim and I have argued this point for many years! He likes a single ride pad with a "kick up" transom. I run a flat bottom tub with no "Training Wheels" of any kind!!

Don :)

PS Look at the 1/8 scale & sport-40 classes ;)

Hi Don, ya know it kind of intrigues me as to the ones that think outside the box in terms of rear sponsons. I mean my son paid after shipping about $175.55 off ebay, RTR, just added gas and tossed it, it really runs hard, he is playing with props this year and we just thought maybe the sponsons would help, maybe I am wrong. Will running witn no sponsons hurt or wear the bottom of the boat? just curious

Roy,

A boat running with or without rear sponsons will not hurt or wear the bottom of the hull. But if the bottom of the tub has a kick up it is almost always nessescery to have sponsons or a ride pad of some kind to launch and hold the transom up in a turn. Not so with a flat bottom tub but, it is very critical to prop & strut changes.

Don :)
