This would be my first post here, I have been reading alot about riggers and found alot of good information on this site.

I see some boats have rear sponsons and some have ski's and others have nothing, I see the pro's and cons for all the different types. (I think)

Anyway my question is, what determins how far off the transom the rear sponsons/ski are placed ?

I know it would be between the drive dog and the transom, is there a sweet spot or is this a try it, move it and try it again type thing?

This is not for any particular boat, just trying to learn.

Any advise or comment is welcome.

Thanks for the replies Ray & Rick;

Ray that post had enough information my head is still spinning from reading it. Thanks it answered my questions.

Hey Rick, yep it's me out from under my rock. LOL

My son is 29 now and is toying with the FE boats, so you know I cant just sit and watch, one thing led to another and now I'm building boats for him. (cant see well enough to drive)

Anyway I know there has to be alot of old school tricks that the fuel guys know that will apply to the FE boats.

Ya gotta think outside the box, for some reason the FE and fuel are mostly kept separate ?

The only difference I see is the propulsion, maybe I'm wrong, I have been before?

Hope all is well with you, we are all fine just alot older.
