Well, as you all know, I usually build from my wood kits, but I acquired this hull in a trade and figured it would make a fun and hopefully quick build. This started life as the Rcboatcompany SG118H hull kit with the rear sponson overhangs already added, ram wing filler kit already added, the Appian style cowling and cockpit already included, front Canard wing- wide version- was already added, rear tiplets already removed and filled and its the full carbon fiber kit. So I get the hull, impressed very much by Steve's workmanship on the layup(been using his cowlings as much as possible already). I knew when I got the hull that the front canard wing might need removal and be moved forward as it looked to have been installed for another hull as some out there are setup that way. I already had an extra canard so I decided to rip that out and move the new one in the correct place. Along the way, I realized the sponsons were about 1.75" to long for the Appian...thought long and hard, and decided to take a risk and cut them off and shorten them. You have to remember, the 118 hull was really built for the 87-91 Bud, 91 Madison 8701 hulls, and I was working on doing a complete different generation hull! So, off the sponson tips went. I then rebuilt that area and it turned out good and strong. I am now working on the cowling and hatchs. This hull will be an FE setup, so all the double walled area where the OEM radio box goes had to be removed to make battery room. That whole area is also a work in progress as I need to smooth and make it look more finished instead of just rough cut and left out to dry! So here are the begining build pics. I am off to Tri Cities next week so there will be a lapse in work!

Apparently I did not get a pic of the bottoms of the sponsons where they were cut, but you can see how much shorter they are now:

Now the rebuild of the sponsons. Had to put one piece on at a time, tacked in place with CA, and glass behind that, then move to the next piece till I was at the upper non trip, then had to either use thickened west systems or cloth, or both!

They have now been sanded and any voids refilled 3 times, and they now look good, even tho these are not the current pics:

Engine well area was ground down as best as possible to make more room, More work to do here:

Now that the sponsons are back together, the front Canard wing is trimmed to fit, and installed:

Cowling windshield, and turbine cowl are both modified for all openings. This is where I am at right now with the build:
