On my Lauterbach hulls, I use my preferred exhaust style, which is a QuickDraw style I get from Gizmo. I use their 90deg drop header. I use these pipes on all my gas boats with the difference being the header style. For whatever reason, on the T Boats, I’m breaking a lot of springs. Basically,the hook breaks off. I had both break a couple weeks ago and it blew the pipe off and it crawled back to shore. Anyway, I tried the clamp on pipe setup yesterday, and I hated it. So, I’m looking to buy a supply of springs where I don’t have to pay 12.00 for 2 of 3 or 4 different sizes. Anyone know a part No or the specs of springs from say a McMaster Carr or similar supplier?
 
All my current spring sets are from Gizmo as well - glad to see it’s not only me having these problems. My springs are breaking at an alarming rate. Would like to find another supplier or next time I’m getting them from quickdraw directly
 
It’s not like I wouldn’t expect them to break ONCE IN A WHILE. I’ve had them break a couple times on my Backlashes, but that’s maybe twice in many days at the lake over the last 3 years. But with the setup on the Lauterbachs, it’s every time out at the lake. I feel like the mounting is ok, but who knows.
 
This was just brought to my attention and it makes sense. I’ve actually done this on Tremolo systems on guitar to dampen residual noise like rattles etc… I’m gonna give it a try.
 
Happens to me as well. The guys in Vietnam sent me alloy springs and I cut them to desired length then turn a hook at the end with pliers. Have not broken any springs since. Different length spacers require different length springs. So far so good for me.

Right, I use the appropriate length springs for the spacer size. They break regardless. I’m not sure who these Vietnam guys are but I’d love to get ahold of some alloy springs for sure. I certainly wouldn’t mind cutting and bending. In the meantime I’m gonna try the silicone tubing trick.

Update, I installed medium silicone fuel line inside all my springs for yesterday’s run day and I DID NOT break a spring. I may get some upgraded springs at some point but I went from breaking them every single outing on the Lauterbach to no broken springs yesterday. We will see how they hold up as the summer progresses but so far so good!
