i have a few questions about fuel for boat use. i am running novarossi 5 port 12 (mod) & 5 port 21(stock), rossi 21 ob (mod) and k&b ob (mod). i have been using byrons 55% boat but my local hobby shop did not have any in stock, the closest they had was odonel 50% "car". what is the difference in car and boat fuel? is it ok to use the car fuel as is or should i be adding oil to it? if so, what kind of oil do i add? one of the guys at the local pond told me that he adds 2oz of oil to even the boat fuel (odonnel 30%). also i wanted to know how much of an advantage is there in using 50 or 55 over 30%. in my first jae 12 with a novarossi car motor i could not tell the difference, but the mod k&b will not run on 30.

just wanted to hear what people think and find out about running "car" fuel in boats

thanks

you must add 3oz of oil to the fuel i dont remember what type but make sure you do ok i run 65% the engines will haul lol

not to try to stear you off. but.

first need to find out the oil content.. I can tell you for certain if it is over10% don't mess with adding oil

the fuel i am running is lower than that and i have no issues. remember.. oil is less power.. most car fuels run around 10 - 12 depend on brand and nitro

as for a advantage of 50 - 55 percent over 30 YES a huge difference.. small motors 21 size ( not sure on 12's as i don't run them ) LOVE HIGH NITRO. the more the better.

on a side note i noticed you are running byrons.. be on the look out for a new fuel from them

i have inside scoop it is good stuff B)

hope i helped

I use no less than 18% oil in case of a lean run / I use sig castor or blendsall , remember that marine engines are under different load conditions as in wide open most of the time, cars and buggy's are on and off the throttle .

i used to use that much 10yrs.. now a days that much is not needed but that is preference to each person
