Technically yes.

If you are using a hot plug in stock form you could use a colder plug with the wire pulled and the colder plug would burn the fuel as well or better than the hot plug.

The added benefit would be that the colder plug would hold up better.

If you have a good needle setting with a stock plug and then you pull the wire on the same heat range plug you must richen the mixture a little because the pulled element will burn more fuel.

Andys explanation probably is the reason when I tried to do this I was burning up plugs. How far out should the coils be pulled? Can some one post a picture of a "good" pull.. Thanks Tony J

How's this.........

They Art of pulling coils! lol

That is good Don.!

I like to pull two coils, however, I have not seen any performance difference between one or two.

Hey Don,

When it gets hot out you may want to try a hotter plug MC-59 with the MAC 21.

We tested this quite a bit,and the hotter plug seemed to work a little better

when it was hot and humid outside. Just a thought! Giving out some helpful

information. BTW, Happy Birthday Don ,you are as old as I am now.

Thanks,

Mark Sholund

I ALWAYS pre-heat plugs (after pulling coil). Pre-heating anneals the winding & makes it last longer. Rod Geraghty turned me on to this a number of years ago & it sure increased plug life. This had the biggest impact on MC-9's as the wire is a bit thicker & it gets brittle when they wind the coil. B)

What are you using to pre-heat the plug with? Would a glow-igniter work okay (It does glow-red hot) ?

Yup, just hit your glow driver on it for about 15 seconds then let it cool down for a minute or two, that's it! B)
