Pro boats

I am looking at possibly buying a new boat from a local hobby shop. It is made by Pro Boat. Can anyone help me with good or bad things about this company.

The boat I was looking at is the Thundercat 31 Nitro. What do you think?

Those are heavy and underpowered. I think you would be hard pressed to get 30mph out one of those, more like 25 mph.

Agrred, but I will give you a suggestion. If you are stuck on a rtr boat, i would recommend getting the Miss Vegas made by Aquacraft. These boats are fastly becoming very popular, and I have seen one run fo rmyself, and they arent bad boats at all, in the handling and the power and speed areas, not to mention they look and perform great! i too would recommend the Miss Vegas any day of the week, I have a proboat 1/12 miss bud and the Vegas is a better design and is easier to work on. but the Vegas has a lot of adjustments check out this forum a lot of good information Here i would get the boat and break it in first before making any the changes recommended.

I've been running a Thundercat this summer and its a lot of fun. You can find a forum on rcuniverse dedicated to the boat. Some guys are getting close to 40 with this boat, minor mods like prop, fuel etc.

Not a bad boat for the money.

I just downloaded the video off the home page for the "Miss Vegas" and even from that it shows that it won't disappoint. What you see is what you get........Perfection!

I'm not a ProBoat fan but we had two of them show up for this years Fun Run. The stock prop and the strut height don't help performance. An Octura M-445 got 37+MPH speeds out of it.

If you decide on one, check all of the nuts and bolts for tightness and the carb is set really rich. The CG is a little far forward, mounting another tank in the right rear sponson will let it air out some more.

The radio box may be loose so check that. Flex cable problems are also an issue, nothing new for a ProBoat boat.

I can sit here all afternoon and give you tips to make it better but it's not all that bad for what it is.

Horizon is coming out with a smaller version that they really messed up on. They really need to hire someone who knows a few things about boats or at least read John Finch's books.
