Looking for unique ways to mount my exhaust. Got pics?? I hate drilling thru the radio box to mount the tuned pipe. AND the ol' hardware store cable clamp job attached to the stinger, got to be a better way. This is for a JAE with a Novarossi, 180 header.

I hear ya Ron. In the past I've laminated a "plate" to the hull side with an adjustment slot cut into it. No holes thru radio box.... & seemed pretty rigid. Works good on the mouse motors, but when you get into the larger cc's, I wouldn't try it.

i made a 1/8" carbon fiber plate for my boats. cut it in a L-shape

used 2 - 6/32 brass inserts and put them inside the motor area then cut a slot in the plate so i can move it forward and back and tighten it down.

i used a pc of flat stock 1/16 material and made a bent pc that is round thru and used the airplane mufflers ( gray ones that are bent at a 45 )

cut that up and used that for a grommet

This is how I attach mine.

i'm using 6-32 size stainless wire. i wrap it around the pipe on the back side of the widest part. some pipes you may need to wrap at the stinger. form a circle around the pipe, slip fuel tubing over that section of the wire. bend the wire in & down as needed to lay against the side of the tub. drill 2 holes in the engine compartment, 2 small peices of aluminum or cf to lay in & out, 2 4-40 allens, flat washers (in & out) & nylock nuts. bend the wire foward to lay beside the 2 allen screws & form a long "U" to lay down the opposite side of the screws. push it foward against the cone or bulge in the pipe, & while keeping some pressure on the mount, tighten the 2 allen screws. easily made, easily adjusted, dirt cheap. just loosen the screws & slide. as long as you have some pressure pushing into the coupler, i've never had an issue.

Damn!!! I hate instructions.. I usually just throw them away.. How about some pics for this one - I'm interested!! :)

Glenn.... who, machined the engine mount?..... and, what pipe is that, thats the second one pictured so far.... thanks Mike

The boat is a Lightning 12 from Mark Leyde. He supplied the engine mount - I believe he machined it from Delrin. Last I checked he did not have any available. The pipe works awesome - Glenn does nice work.

That's nice Glenn. I have seen that style in aluminum before. It had a slot, so you could adjust the pipe length without drilling new holes. I will probably go that route next time. I don't thing plywood would hold it's ridgidness well with a slot in it, though. Perhaps an 1/8" carbon plate would!?

Anyway, Great ideas!
