How is it determined which race events should be pinned ?

I understand pinning special events like the Internats and Gas Nats but I have to wonder about some of the other events that are pinned.

With so many great races taking place each season maybe interest should dictate what's on the front page , that would only be fair to all clubs hosting events?

Not trying to start a pissing match , just an observation .

Interest is what dictates what goes on the front page if the race you are interested is not pinned sorry..

That's odd because the FE Nats is pinned with 1 reply and the Evansville Spring race has 3 pages of replies and it is not pinned. Has more interest via replies than most pinned yet its not pinned. Maybe its something else that gets them pinned.

The FE Nat's don't have many replies but if you go to rcracing events they have more boats that any event that's going on right now. National events normally attract more people not just from the US but internationally.

They make a Mouse with a pointer that you can click on what event you are trying to see..

i think it is very nice when a race gets within 3-4 weeks to have it pinned and the boaters keep it "fresh" in their minds. i have so many people say i forgot it was that close and i too am guilty of it. as a race c-d and large races to put on, i appreciate early entries, with all the computer work , trophies, shirts, it is a HUGE pressure cooker on my end. these items cannot wait until the last minute to be done. it is also nice to ba able to race at your own race, which usually not an easy task with a race to run.

m.o.o.

The pinning is idiotic for non national events, only leads to this kind of discussion and bruised feelings . Remove them all unless its a NATS

The problem is with so many events pinned there is only a few spots on the first page.

I have to agree with Tony , if it's not a true National event it shouldn't be pinned.

Lets be fair to all the clubs trying to hold an event and let interest dictate .

Not that my opinion matter's,,,, But I agree with the comments above. I feel there are too many "pinned" events on the races & results page. Kinda defeat's it purpose.

Just my .02

I agree,I have not posted about our June race so others can post races coming sooner. Good races just need a little publicity less known races need more exposure. We are all boaters looking for a fun enjoyable race even if smack takes over sometimes. A round of thanks to the mods for putting up with us is in order......THANKS GUYS FOR ALL YOU DO........Mikey

I too agree. I myself do not know how our race got pinned. Of course I understand why the post that got pinned about our race getting delayed because of the problems we have last week. We got our power on Tuesday and there is still some people in north Alabama that do not have it yet. But we have reset the date and there is no need to have that post anymore. I did have to get the person who started and help out on letting everyone know to change it but I am sure they did not pin it.

I think don is doing the pinning?
Yup. A race doesn't get pinned unless someone asks and until recently it's never been a big demand item to pin a race. Since it's apparent that some have issues with it now that it's getting a little bloated I'll only pin National events (when asked) from here on in and I'll unpin any non National level events there now. :)
Hmmmmm, seems there's a few there I didn't pin........

No biggie, only Nats level races are now pinned. B)

I am the one that asked Julian to pin the Huntsville race. The reason is because of the number of views/responses that it has had and because I am an older person that gets frustrated at trying to find the post I want to view. Whether it is a National event or not, it does not matter to me which topics get pinned. All that can be changed by the moderator at any time. Is this a status thing? If so, I apoligize for asking. I see this as a service for all racers/members who want to convey information. I am and will continue to be a supporter for Huntsville. What a great race site. If anyone can arrange their schedule to attend this race in July, you will not be disappointed.

The pinned races wouldn't bother anyone if you just clicked the 'View New Content' link.

I never go into the individual forums. I just click the new content link and review all new posts, read the ones that interest me, then click the 'mark all items read' link. Then you can see all posts in all threads. Makes the pinning of anything relevant. You also no longer need to scan each forum for new posts. The site does it for you.

Just my .02 cents.

Good job Don. I would not want any special treatment. Now I did not see a problem with the pinned post on the postpone of our race due to the fact of the weather we had and thanks for helping those get the word out. Now I have look at all to race post and Atlanta is not a IMPBA national event. It is just a race with the word national in it's title.

Thanks I.W. team , just proves again why this is the best site on the Net B) .
