Looking to see if anyone knows of another paint scheme that will work on the 1988 Miller American.

I have seen the Miller lite...just looking for something different.

Hey Teddy, For a list of Unlimited Hydroplanes built between 1927 - 2003, go to www.namba.com. Select "Scale", and then "Master Hull Roster". This is the Master Hull Roster. It is in Abode format, you can view it, save it to disk, or print it out - it's about 20 pages. For alternative paint schemes for the 1988 Miller American, have a look at Hull# 8401 or 8700 - - you will find many options. Plans and paint plans for many different boats are available from www.newtonmarine.com. Welcome to 1/8th Scale Unlimiteds. CHEERS !!! Bob

If you're talking about the Miller I think you're talking about you have no other options without making a cowl change. The later hulls also went to Jones sponsons limiting you even more.

If you are referring the the Dumas kit (actually '85-'86), leave the scoop off the cowl & make it flat on top it does the '84 Atlas with no other changes.

This was the last year for the Atlas Van Lines sponsorship.

I think I'm wrong. For some reason when he said Miller Lite?....Miller High Life clicked in my head and I thought maybe he was referring to this hull. https://www.intlwaters.com/gallery/displayimage...10166&pos=-5117

Actually that is still the same hull with Lucero symetrical sponsons & the "suitcase" cowl. ;) Now the next Miller High Life had the clown mouth scoop which became one of the Circus Circus boats. :)

Right, but Miller Lite

This is the Aeromarine Version of the Miller American.

The namba site with the pdf is awesome but it doesn't show the pics...wish they were available.

Yup, that's '85-'86. Here's a link to some good shots of the Miller American-

Like I said if you cut off the scoop on the top of cowl & make it flat you can do the '84 Atlas-

The Atlas is an easier paint scheme than the Miller, if you do the Miller correctly. Some people just paint it one color of red which is incorrect, the real boat had three shades of red down the deck & on the wings. My first scale was a correctly painted Dumas Miller American. She was smooth driving & a very pretty boat, won Concours at '98 Internats. B)

Just to clarify on this guys. The 88 Miller was the Miller HIGH LIFE (Originally the first turbine Atlas). The 8401 was the Miller with the suitcase cowl. The canopied boat with the clown frown cowl was the 8700. The Miller American (8401) did run with that suitcase cowl but it was once in 1987. In 1987 the 8700 boat emerged with the Star Wars canopy but it had problems. That boat became the all pink Circus U-31 that John Prevost drove in the first half of 88. Chip drove the open cockpit Miller High Life U-00. Between Seattle and SD the boats swapped sponsors and the Miller (8401) got a canopy and became the U-00 blue sided Circus. The canopied Miller U-31 ran SD and Vegas and then Miller dropped the sponsorship. Both boats became Circus Circus the next year. The 8700 was the primary boat with radiused Jones sponsons and the 8401 retained the Lucero pointed sponsons and had a longer nose. That boat was known as the "School Bus". Chip beat the Bud with it in Seattle in '89. They both had identical paint jobs.
