I must admit that i'm not a big electric racer i probably wouldn't know how to select batteries and such, that being said here's a real novice question for you pros out there..... how popular P-sport hydro's are and what kind of selection is out there?

The current '10 Nat's sign ups has 11 P-Limited Sport hydro drivers and 8 P-Sport drivers. P-Limited uses an inexpensive spec motor and has been more popular than P-Sport Hydro for many years now. It always pulls more drivers as almost everyone that races FE has a P-Limited Sport Hydro setup.

In years past (and probably this year), most racers use their "smaller" P-Limited Sport Hydro hulls and race them in P-Sport. I'd say 80% are racing hulls that are too small, including me. Product selection has been thin for an adequate P-Sport hull.

Things are changing right now, though. There are 2 new Sport Hydros that are 30" hitting the market this summer with tons of potential. They are targeting the P-Limited market, but P-Sport will benefit as well with these new designs.

what if there was a P-sport comming in at 33 7/8"(i understand the max is 34") long would there be a market for it? would it be too big for the spec class? thanks for your feedback

Don't tell me you are going to the dark side?? Welcome I am hooked did you see my JAE FE last weekend? I hit a bouy and broke my boom but if I didn't I would have been in the hunt. Jerry

ah.....not so fast jerry, i didn't see your jae good enough but i would have sure liked to! i just doing some recon on the class, i don't know much about electric boats, trying to get some education. B)

A hull just shy of the 34" length limit would be a fantastic P-Sport boat, but would likely be underpowered for the P-Limited class. Just my .02 cents.

All the best,

Ray

I would say the new Insane sport hydro will do very well as a P sport hydro. Its already proven itself in P spec.

Here are a couple of pics of mine. Speeds are close to 70 mph.
