Allan, the orange o ring is in the correct location in the picture. Novarossi claims the o ring dampens vibration to the head insert. Maybe Aaron can explain further? Richard D

The O ring goes under the head button so it sits between the crankcase and button. I think this was developed initialy for the car motors because of the vibration they were getting with the tall car heat sink heads.
