I am looking for any info on .45 size outboard outriggers mainly intended for SAW. I have a Prather "Spitfire 2", a converted Eagle SG and am in the process of converting a JAE to outboard. The Spitfire 2 will use a standard K&B lower, that will also be used for steering. The Eagle SG will have the motor locked, and steer with a separate rudder. I haven't decided what to do on the JAE, but I am thinking steering with the motor. Any and all ideas are welcome, the target speed is 100mph.

To be legal in NAMBA a outboard hydro must use the motor & lower unit to steer.

I remember the day Mike was asking me what the A OB hydro rules was. I told him about a design Rod G had done many years earlier. Soon after he show up with what you see. Cool boat.

Do you guys think there is any chance to get those 2 classes (A/B OB Hydro) back on the water ?

Alex

Not a .45 but I recently built these two. One is 19' long and has a 266 c.i. V 8 two stroke the other is it's RC baby brother, It has a SS 29cc with a custom short mid and gear drive.

Those Ellison riggers are drag boats, right?
The original version was a dragboat, I can design and build you one for any class/type/size of racing you want! Here is a circle hull I built.

Bob,

I have just started testing a modified JAE 45 kit adapted for an outboard. Rudder is connected to the lawless lower without a skeg. So far it handles and turns well. Hoping to make some oval runs at Huntsville in Nov.

Thanks for the pics. I can't make that record trial. I am hoping to have my "Billet" motor ready soon,
