Rick, I think if you read the flyer closer it will be the "Shootout" format....
I think what Spider was asking, was if certain classes were being run on certain days,, IE: as done at a NAMBA or IMPBA Nat's.
Rick, Yes you are right. It will be racing all classes everyday, unless there is something I don`t know!
Good to go Eric,,,

Spider, Shootout format is.

Regular heat racing for 3 or 4 rounds,,, not sure what the Orlando club has planned.

Then "normally" the top 6 point boats go head to head for one race "heat" to determine the class winner.

Wayne, am I close with this desciption? Please outline for us all... As I was unaware of the "shootout" format for the Winternat's till Eric brought it to our attention.

Thanks in advance.

Yup usually all the top points scoring competators are bunched together in the final round heat and the top three are sorted there or something like that :)

Okay , so that said - how many boats will run in a shootout per class- say a class has 8 boats- 16 boats ? 45 boats ?

I take it this is to prevent the need for runoff's ?

I saw it on the flier- but did that terrible thing and assumed  that it was for the nitro/gas rigger deal only.....

I have heard of shoot out but get confused on what it is??

I have seen races that use qualfiers and consolation race and top 6 boats in the final race run for the trophys.

Then I have seen races run the first round then top point guys are put into the next round toghether and so on till the end, that usally wont end in ties.

Maybe shootout is run the first 3 rounds and then only the top 6-8 run for more points in the last round for a total score.

that would cut down on the last round heats in those larger classes.

The boss CD will explain Im sure

Rick is correct.....4 rounds of racing. The 6 boats in each class with the highest scores will race a 5th round starting with "0" points to determine 1st thru 3rd (4th or 5th)

Andy....Only 6 boats will run the 5th round.

If by chance we don't have time to run the 5th round the race will be scored like a normal points race from the 4 rounds.

For those of you that have never run the Shootout format you are really gonna like it. If you screw up one heat in a race of this size in the normal format you are pretty much done for the weekend. With the Shootout format you screw up one heat you still have a chance.

I know first hand cuz last year in Louisiana I got a DNS in my 1st heat of mono but ended up in the 5th round and took home a 2nd overall for the weekend.

It's really a neat format!!

As Wayne mentioned it is a fun format to race. To delve in a little deeper.

The first round lineup is RANDOM. Depending how you finish the first round "Class specific" will determine which heat you will run in the second round. So lets say you have 40 boats in a class. 5 heats in a round. 8 boats per heat. You will have 5 First place finishers. Five Second place finishers, and so on. For the second round, the 5 First place boats, and 3 Second place boats from the first heat will run together in the same heat in the second round, and the 5th round you have the top 6 boats running against each other. The only part about running the "shootout format" is YOU the PARTICIPANT have to check the scoreboard frequently to determined which HEAT you will run in the next Round. Scores are usually posted immediately finishing a round. You can then determine where you will race in the next round. Unlike getting a heat sheet day 1, and knowing which heat you will be in for the entire event.

I`m trying to explain this the best way I can. Hopefully I have explained it right.

Wayne please correct me if there is something I missed, or incorrectly stated and I will edit the post.

Look forward to seeing everyone.
