:blink: man o man , tether boats , belle isle, home made motors, home made props home made u joints , drive shafts. cetrifuge casting of props , etc,etc. man you guys dont know how lucy you are that you dont have to make everythingfor your hot rod . iam in fla now and we just ran the winternats in orlando, i was showing my home made props to theguys and was explaning to them how we figurd the pitch/roll/curve etc. you should have seen there faces,, this was in 1953 , one fellow popped up and said,hell i wasnt even born then jim , how old sre you anyway, i told him i had been around for a little whil , but i still learn every daay , james irwin ps. yes my motors are made by rossi for me to my spec,s
 
They still race those tether boats in Europe. They use a bungee to accelerate them up onto the pipe. I think 2.5cc is well over 100mph and they even have flash steam powered riggers going over 100mph.

My first RC boat was in the middle 60's. We used to run at Marquette Park in Chicago. I remember well the tether boats that used to run in the lagoon there. Was that you I saw out there in the waders?

I still have a Dee Huey dial aprop I made my own props for the ob rigger as no one had what I needed. remember the first realy good JG props?Thank god for Tom Prezenka
