Hello once agian. Well this time i'm not sure what to do but i think i know what i should do. To start, what are the signs that your fuel is no good? What does your motor do or not do? I was trying to start up my sons boat to try to get a little run time on it before it hits the water. I put old 50% fuel in it that has been in my basement in a plastic fuel can that has been down there about 3 -4 years but in a dark place. It started right up with a really rich setting. Ran for about 5 seconds then stalled and that continued for about 15 minutes till i packed it in. Anyway i think the problem lays on the old fuel but was looking for suggestions as it did start right up and ran rich for a few minutes but was it. I thought it might be the fuel draw as soon as i give it a slow throttle input it dies. Both tanks are softer flexable ones not the harder plastic. I leaned it out alot as well and the same result. Its a 20 K&B outboard with new P/S rod etc. Any suggestions or comments welcomed. Except (get rid of that k&b garbage and buy a better set up )

ThanksI'm running a 6oz tank with a 1oz tank on top.

I'm not sure but they feel fine when i put the motor together . Why do you ask and what would i look for if there was a issue with them ? Thanks

Jeff

It seems bearings go bad just sitting, Id put a fresh set in and have a close look at the crank between the bearings,if it rubs the housing the housing and crank could be toast....Maybe some pics.......

I agree you should try a new plug....especially if the engine runs fine with the glow driver attached but stop after removing it.

If the fuel tanks and hoses are over a couple years old replace them. Make sure the carb is tight in the case. Blow through the carb fuel entry to make sure it is clear. Yes, check bearings and start with a new plug. I would not used fuel over 2 years old.

Make sure the fuel lines are right and make sure your spinning the motor the right direction.

Don't laugh its March and it's easy to do.

Change the plug as well.

Well folks the plug was the problem. After i read your comments i remembered i put an old plug in it. New blue OD plug and it ran great even with the old fuel. Thanks again

Thanks Randy . It was really nice to see you again and Tim at the Ottawa race. Hoping to get back and get to a few Ontario races. Those US races will not fit in my schedule at all. Hope to see ya'll soon

I recently (last summer) bought a gallon of O'donnel 65% from a hobby store. It had just a little bit of the color to it that Odonnel gets as it ages or gets in the sun. Could have been 5-8 years old... it ran great.
