i have a old dumas atlas van lines hydro still new in the box that i started to assemble last season.. my buddies father bought it when it first came out and never even opened the box..sadly he passed away about four years ago and his son, my buddy had given all his rc stuff to me. he isnt into it, so he gave it to me so he could actually see it built and be run.. anyone here ever built and run one of these boats. looking for any info on it.. seems like a nice hydro.. i was gonna slap a russian .60 in it, seen as how i have one laying around.. any feedback on this old hull is greatly appriciated..

Do a search here for it- there is lots of good info. Some changes need to be made from the original plans as well as different woods to be used. Someone here will chime in Im sure.

Hello camaroboy 383 .

Our Club Secretary has a Atlas Van Lines Sport 40 that he bought from somewhere with a side exhaust K / B Motor . He ran a few times with it before replacing with a OPS 45 . It is now a very fast boat and fun to see it running around the course .

i bet it go's good with that ops in it.. im hoping this russian .67 will move it pretty good.. i really like the boat,,,nastalgic look, and the kit was complete, with all the stickers and everything.. should be fun to build.

Hello camaroboy 383 .

My mistake about the size of the boat , we had a member run one these several years ago , but he sold all his gear a long time back and I don't know where it is now . He used to run it in salt and fresh water and I am fairly sure it usually ran wide on the course . As for your motor talk to one of the Al's ( Waters or Hobbs ) he knows how to get them going hard .

excellent info in that thread.. much appriciated..
I'm in the same boat as Andy-no pun intended. I built one by the plan's 20 years ago and it was fun but not up to heat racing. I still have the boat and I'm trying to correct some of the problems. Right from the start the boat wanted to drift out wide in the turns. I didn't know why till I read some of the posts on I.W.-not enough skid fin or rudder in the water. I removed the ride pads from the sponsons and replaced some of the heavier alum/plexiglass parts with carbon fibre or lexan. First test around 13 April. Good luck, Glenn
