Knowing you are the guru, I figured I would go to the man with the answers.

Stuck sitting around with the knee deal, We stopped with intentions of buying a military aircraft (plastic) model. No problem, plenty of decent choices it seems- still have Revell and Monogram (they where good back in the day) . Pick a model and start looking for paint- yeah , another investment thats at least as much or more as the model. Dont get me wrong, I was more than willing to nut the big set- it just didnt come close to ANY colors the kit needed, and to price them individually was crazy. SOOOO I guess my question is who makes a specific kit for military aircraft and are the pressurized ones decent ???

Andy,

Tamiya makes fantastic kits BUT at a high cost.

I have to go with Revell.. Just remember some of the Revell kits are older and part shots might not be as clean. (people crab about that from time to time. Me.. I dont care its just part of the build)

I AIRBRUSH ONLY.. even very small parts. I hardly ever hand brush parts.

Enamel for me ONLY.. i do not like others.. and trust me have used them all.

Thanks Grim, I guess as usual that leads to the next question ?

What do you think about the Testors stuff with the can propellant ?

Of course in enamel. Or is it gonna take a small air brush set and compressor ?

And you know the next question if yes to the airbrush

Thanks again.

I gave up on the can air YEARS ago.. go to Harbor Freight and get a compressor.

I use badger BUT.. Iwatea is very good too. Get a duel action unit..

Was just readin this great thread.....can you guys BELIEVE what a plastic model kit cost these days???AND the paints,ec..? Even at Hobby Lobby prices, how can an average kid even afford to build a model, something i did all the time when i was a kid.....AMT Funny CAR Kits were a buck and a half as i remember....i think i paid 1.25$ for a Monogram HEMI FIAT, one of my FAVORITE dragsters back in the day! Its funny...when i go to HL to get my Model Rocket engines with the coupon, the only people i see even lookin at any model kits are people my age, not kids.....its really a shame....buildin models kept me out of trouble......well.....MOST of the time!

With the canal behind the neighbors house, many o many warship kits saw Davie Jones's locker - firecrackers- lighter fluid- spent Missile Mist

I wish to this day I had a picture of me and my brother Chips bedroom when we where kids. There must had been 40+ Aircraft models hanging from the ceiling the he and Dad built, I had a couple in there

I have a buddy that owns a hobby shop and he said. the best thing he ever did was bring in plastics.. He says he sells the tar out of them..

Very much alive!

So what would you put together ? and it might as well be something that can paint rockets as well....

its really proly not a bad starter set.. The compressor is the key.. you will "work up" to a better airbrush in the future.
