building my first Fe tunnel and was wondering if you guys use oilers or just grease in the leg ?

I once developed an oiling system that used exhaust to pressurize a tank filled with automatic transmission fluid that fed into the top of the lower unit on an 11 cc mod outboard. Even though it had a brass shaft tube and a ball bearing propeller shaft, it was serious overkill. These days I only grease the cable after each days racing. You can use a bicycle grease gun to add grease during the day without disassembling the outboard. I would still inspect the cable after a days running.

Brass liner mandatory in ANY lower, then I use an oil squirt can filled with chainsaw bar oil before each run. No cable failures in over 6 years. The nylon/plastic liners work well, they just require constant monitoring & regular replacement.

... and they work fine with a greased cable.
