O.S. .18 TZ engines

Well, Now I know why some of you RTR folks like O.S.18 TZ engines...i raced my MV at at one day race this past Sunday and there were 3 boats that had TZ's in em and WOW! Talk about SMOKIN! Im runnin a CVRM in my boat and it has run just great from day one, but those TZ's just scream!!Hmmmm...wonder what i can do to my little Vegas to get just a coupla more MPH outta her with my CVRM...i really do like what ive got, but JEESH! :blink:

what type of speed are you seeing with your cvrm ? and how do the guy mode the tz to fit in the mv. water cooling ,things like that.

most run them air cooled other than that you can ask cacey at a-z racing .com he sails them for boats but are still air cooled.

no sir they dont.... the heads are even turned down on a lathe....

I'm not sure but i hear they are running at 190 and run good .

Actually, they were all water cooled...with CVRM heads..there is a small flange on the head that gets turned down and then they drop right on...

I honestly dont know..ive never had it radared...i believe the motor itself drops right in. The CVRM really is a good motor...just doesnt seem to have the revs that the TZ has.

Actually, they were all water cooled...with CVRM heads..there is a small flange on the head that gets turned down and then they drop right on...

a little more work needs to be done as far as volume and clearance ..as well as the mounting holes are bigger and about .020 out further so you need to pocket mille the holes out ..i use a little end mille for this and redrill the holes in the cap..set the head clearence at .006 and you are good to go, i have some done if intrested..or i can convert them for you.

what flywheel do you use on that tz engine as well as exhaust header?

i use the same flywheel for the cvrm that os sells.. the blue ones..they run true and are fairly cheap..they fit righht on no mods needed if you are running the traxxas cut crank..the short shaft. the headers are the associated 180 degree headers for the rc10gt or touring car i cannot remember the number but you can get them in a blue tha matches the flywheelor black or silver..good luck and they do really haul the amil when done right..very fast
