I recently bought a used trailer and thought about changing the rusted screws for some new ones. The screws have either a torx or star socket head. A Torx T15 is too small and a T20 is too big. I have not tried any star drives (TS 15 or TS20) but I can't see them fitting. It really appears to match the torx pattern. Apparently there are tools between these sizes but where can I buy them?

You can't buy what they don't have. It isn't a 15 and it isn't a 20. Those are the standard sizes. This is a special tool. McMaster, MSC, and Grainger.........no luck.

Preston how about checking with a trailer sales place maybe they can help or call the man. of the trailer may be will help you out or how about just painting the heads of them. Scott

Hey Preston,

I'm not aware of any sizes between t15 and t20. I know there are some internal sizes like 27 and 47 when you get into the larger sizes and I realize that doesnt do you any good.

Just a thought: I have found myself in a tight-spot before when an Allen wrench actually worked pretty well on the torx 6pt socket. It may be worth trying

you could always slot the heads with a dremel then use a flatblade......

No wait, there are probably several hundred screws on an enclosed trailer.....maybe not such a good idea.

I like Scott's idea, paint them!

I just "googled" it and couldnt find anything that looks like it would work between a t15 and t20. Any chance it's a 5-point Torx plus? not a 6 point?

just thought I'd ask.

Hey preston, look at this site, I know that they make a T18 socket, but Im certain they dont make a t18 driver.....

there are serval types of "torx" styles though, maybe you have something diferent than what is "normal" look at this site to see what I mean. they have picture os each pattern to look at......maybe this will help?
