i lost the packaging my Epoxy came in and i was wondering what sort it was (15min 30min, that sort of stuff)

on one bottle it says:

NHP - Clear and Simple

Finishing Resin

Part (A) Resin

4 oz.

At Room Temp Sets in 20Mins

Working time approx. 15Mins

Can be Handeled in 8HRS

Full Bond Strength in 24HRS

On the other it says:

NHP - Clear and Simple

Finishing Resin

Low Odor Polyester Resin Substitute

Part ( B) Hardener

4 oz.

At Room Temp Sets in 3HRS

Working time approx. 45Mins

Can be Handeled in 12HRS

Full Bond Strength in 24HRS

Now this confuses me, which one am i supposed to follow? Can someone please let me know how good this Expoxy would be to use to seal Balsa Wood?

TIA

Kris

i am going to guess that they are not a set. sounds like one is a 20 minute resin, while the other is a finishing epoxy hardner. I would recommend buying some new stuff. It is not worth the risk.

I agree with Tom, but mix some up and glue some scraps see what happens.

It is possible that the hardener is available in different styles, quick set, slow set and so on. It seems to me that you should be safe using it, but as stated test it first.

BTW, Have you tried to look up the manufacture on the web?

Kris:

It works great I've tried it. But it confused me as well. It is alot closer to the faster cure. But test it yourself its the only way. I always test my epoxy first. If its winter it takes alot longer to cure and stays brittle. In the summer heat it cures fast and stays very flexable.

Thanks Guys, you are all really helpful!

i put one layer of it on some 1.5mm balsa and it definately made a difference...so it should b all good to use on my new boat once its finished
