David Newton won the first race of the 2010 RCU season with a stunning victory in the Atomic Cup on April 18. Rather than his normal "trolling" start, David started like a man and blew through the other boats at the starting line. Here are a couple of videos of the action.

Love the videos Harry. Can you tell me how MiniCzar got through at the start without hitting anyone? I didn't see any room in there at all

I believe it is called being fortunate that all the people in front of him didn't change lanes. I have seen many a start like that where someone moves and you wind up running right over them. All the drivers ithe final were very skilled.

Thanks for posting those Videos Harry.

1st Video - Is that Steve's OLD boat? Get some stick time with that, and you'll have some fun!!

2nd Video - Congrats John on beating Bill with a boat he sold him!!! I smell a little NASCAR though....

3rd Video - David is the man. He has the skills to pull that move off!! Nice 'wiggle' to miss Dave (and his new boat). But, I think I deserve a little nod on showing him how not to do that move at the 09' Nats.... I wouldn't try that move in lane 3 at the nats... too much respect for the inside 3, but as I see it, and tried it, lane 4,5,6 is fair game at 'trolling' speed. I mean if you're trolling in lanes 4, 5, 6, at the start, that's on you, as much as the guy 'coming-thru' JMHO.

P.S. - Having the luxury of video, notice that lane 1.5 looks like the less-risky line. Steve is doing the typical push-off the start bouy. From past experience, it looks like there is less risk in lane 1.5 . Just providing feedback to put in your racing archive of a brain. I've got to get to the shop. These are great videos to get us part-timers motivated.

Best to all,

DJ
