Hi new to this hobby of rc gas boats.Have just aquired a new hull 43 inch long by 12 inch wide.Am woundering what would be a reasnable size moter for this boat{shallow v} thanks wetfeet <_<

Hi!

...is it an inboard or outboard?? Either way, a boat that size would prob'ly be happy with a .67 (11cc). Really kinda big for a first boat. be careful, go slow ( building and the first few times in the water) and you'll be fine.

If it's an inboard, your choice of running hardware (strut, rudder, prop) will be just as important as the motor.

Good luck with your project!

Hi Again......

OOPS!...........

Maybe you are asking about gas as in gasoline...............

Pardon my assumptoin.

Depending on whose design it is, it might be too small for gasoline power. The only sensible choice in buying a gasoline boat engine is the Zenoah 231 or 260. No better bang for the buck. Gas monos are generally 45 inches and up.

Thanks Mike. the boat was a self design.made plug and mold. :) it's fiberglass and carbon.

You've come this far; if it has room for a Zenoah in there, put a stock 260 in and see what happens. Use enough flotation, in case it has a tendency to go over. Have you visited Jim's RC Boat Dock Forum? Lots of gas guys over there.
