Friends here are a couple of pictures of the finished (almost) new .12 design I did for Mike to kit. I am happy that the design has a good mix of the classic looks of the old school (Wing Ding, etc) with a bit of modern flair. I built this boat very heavy (thick wood, lots of epoxy, etc) trying to see how it will run at the weight most kits will come out at. Just as you see it here with all of the radio, fuel tank in but no push rods and drive wire and turn fin, it weights 1 lb 14 oz. finished weight will be around 2 lb 3 oz.

Thanks guys! I have had several PMs about the kits and future sizes. Assuming this works out good for Mike and the kitting deal, then yes I will be doing other sizes in the "Classic" design.

Mike, I am glad to hear that! I still need to finish installing the radio and then it will be ready to run. As with any brand new design, i will want to give it a good testing before we start making kits. Lets talk on the phone to see how best to go about getting the next steps done.

it does.. I like it.. One day I'm going to make one of those "stick" boats that has hull tapered so that the transon is only wide enough to mount the strut / rudder combo to.. t

Haha that's darn near what I have now and I can tell you that it will probably be my one and only tiny boat for me. I love my rigger but can only get my clumsy fingers in so far in the tight radio box.

I have built a few boats with the super narrow transom (some with no transom at all...it just comes to a point). I have found they don't run all that great and they don't really handle so great if the rudder is right behind the prop. They are swoopy looking and cool, but just don't work so great.

Friends, here are a couple of pictures of the finished radio box, tank area and wire drive/stuffing box in the boat. The finished weight is a few oz over 2 lbs with lots of epoxy and full size radio equipment. The tank from Ryan is awesome!

You can see a couple of videos of the motor break in in the motors forum. I hope to run it soon!

Friends, as you know I always talk about the need for a really free drive line, especially on the small boats (drag will KILL what little HP you have). Here is a short video of he wire drive setup in this boat. What you see is me flicking the prop to get the motor off of bottom dead center and the weight of the piston falling back to the bottom, pushing the prop around.
