backplate with teflon face, reduces friction to next to nothing. You would be surprised how much drag is there because I was too. Due to less friction bottom end temperature is lower.

Older engines have smaller dia backplate
04 production year had engines with two different sizes. It is either 1.002 or 1.022
1.002 takes 16000 bearing
1.022 takes 16800 bearing
All engines prior 2004 are 1.002 OD
