Well I have not run a Mono in over 15 years. My good friend Chris Herzog stuck one of his Mono's into my trailer at the Atlanta race last spring. My race partner "Doc Turner" has been trying to get me to set it up with a 101 CMB. Well I bought the motor a few months ago and he wanted me into bring it to him to paint. So a couple of months ago I took it to him to paint. He work on it and tape and mask and used paint that he had left over while he was painting other boats. A week ago or so he told me the he had messed the paint job up and would have to sand it back down. He said that he was only going to paint it back one color to cover up his mistakes. So he came to my shop Saturday morning to pick up some things and to bring some things and the boat. He had the boat covered with a beach towel to where I could not see it. Well on uncovering the boat I think that he lied to me. What do ya'll think?

I have always liked bright contrasting colors. The white, yellow, red and black is really sharp. Worth at least 5 mph too.

Awsome job, you're gonna like the "one point hydros", a lot more bumpin' and grindin' and just good 'ol racin'!

If Chris has some more paint left over I have a couple of boats that he can practice some more on. LOOKS GOOD!!!

Once I finally finish my Whiplash 20, my next project is going to be a mono. I know quite a few guys on the "Dock" run Chris' Hurricane, his sight is down right now, what model is that?

Now comes the hard part, drilling the holes and cutting the hatch in that very nice paint. Always makes me nervous. Chris's huricanes are good running boats, they don't like a prop with a lot of lift. You will have fun with that one.

Doc Turner did do a great paint job. It is not prefect but from 10 feet away it looks good and it is just a race boat. I did the checkers with my graphics cutter along with the Huricane and the IMPBA logo. We bought a Roland Stika 8" cutter a few years ago and it has been the best thing since slice bread. I have been using a vinyl that is used for paint mast. You just cut your graphics get rid of what you don't want and paint.

Mark,You and Doc just go to the pond and race a few laps and it will either get broken in or a few scratches from rubbin.

There is no doubt about that. We always do something to a new boat and it is always the most unheard of things that happen.

Mark, I misread your post earlier. Should have read it twice before I answered.

Hello Doc...good buddy. In your spare time would you be interested in practicing your painting skills on another boat?

Just kidding. Nice job!

Hey Mark....sweet looking boat. I hope it runs as good as that twin you had in Slidell. When a rigger loses half a sponson and does not slow down, that is a bad a&& boat. See ya next time. Jim(pitt boss)

Mark,

You think we could get you into a REAL boat with the same process? Ha Ha.

LOL! That's a good Mark but you never know. But if you want to build it and put some kind of power on it like a Rubber Band, it maybe all I can handle but I will drive it. I do remember Tommy wanting me to drive his last 21 tunnel at a record trial a couple of years ago to see what I thought it needed. Bless his heart, his eyes have gotten so bad that all he could do was follow the rooster tail and he could not tell what it needed to trim it. And I still think that he could have drove a good race by doing that. But that boat drove like it was on a rail and he could have trim on that boat all day and I would have stepped up to drive it for him. And if I remember he did set some of his last records that weekend following the rooster tail.

If someone told me Mark Bullard had a Mono hull boat he was going to race I would have to laugh out loud! But now all of this must be true...........I guess this is like me having a hydro, huh?

Happy New Year, Mark
