I had a boat that I sold with that exact set up. If I remeber correctly I had the neddle set at about 3 1/2 turns. But as I have been told by some other people here you can't kill an engne by running to rich.

The best thing to do is turn the needle until the whole thing is off and then replace w/the stock parts. LOL Man those things are messy and a bear to stay consistant. Let us know how it runs.

Rod,

I think that’s why they turned the venturi down on the side on that particular model…….to help suck up some of the slop and give it a second chance to get out the exhaust ;D

Kind of like a Bilge Pump :p

Another potentially good thread.....Hijacked in the name of senselessness 8)

Messy & needle settings not being so critical is what I've heard here & there.

The best way to say this is I simply don't like it. The carb sets off to the side of the engine & though I have a standard black carb, its in the wrong position to hook up.

Damn antique!

When the frustration subsides, I might play with it again or even toss it on ebay hoping to get a $120 for it.
