I have recently become the proud owner of a Falk marine kevlar and carbon boat hull. It is a miss budweiser hull. The center section is off center just like the real thing but it is set up for a gas motor. I am gearing it up to see how fast i can get it to go. I am just looking for any help I can get about this hull. if anyone knows what it is worth or anything anyone might know would help. the boat hull is only 3 pounds 9 ounces. please help a brother out.

Looking for any help I can get. The hull is so light I am afraid I am going to rip it apart. I am having to reinforce a lot of the deck tue to it being so thin. I am also wondering about engine placement any balast issues and how in the heck do I mount the turn fin. Hey it says you are a LT. I assume you are in the Navy. Am I correct?

No not in the Navy work for a Fire Department my wife thought that would be good. <_<

The hull is very light but is made with Kevlar so it is thin. First question can you get to the inside of the hull? If so use bulkheads and stringers to add stiffness. Remember where ever you want to glue something sand it first. Use 60 grit to rough it up. Also use west systems glue. Engine placement should be as far forward as possible. A gas engine is allot heaver then a nitro. Do not forget flotation very important fiber glass hulls will sink take it from me. Skid fin side I believe they put in an aluminum plate where it goes so you will need to drill and tap the threads in.

You are absolutly correct. I just drilled holes for the rudder and metal shavings appeared. What a shock to me. I am just having problems on where to mount the turn fin on the sponson. I have reinforced the hull a lot and you are correct it is light as hell. I am thinking about bounting the fuel bag in the sponson. I havnt found any plans or blueprints anywhere. but thanks for your help, thanks alot.

Hey can you send me some Pic's of where you are talking about on the skid fin side?? Also by gluing in bulk heads you will add weight and make it stronger too. One more thing on fuel tank placement do not put it some where you can not get to it right away, another leason learned. As you set up the hull look at it in the way; if this broke how long will it take me to fix it and how much of a pain in the a$$ will it be....

Sorry to digress from the thread, GSTRBMECH,??? you wouldn't happen to be a gas turbine tech (LM2500, etc) with the USN by any chance would you?

Just curious as I am an electronics tech (FFG Sensors maintainer) - SPS-49, SPS-55, SQS-56, (& the list goes on) with the RAN (Spent some time at 32nd St and FLEASWTRACEN in S.D. CAL in 97 and again in 00). Small world hey

AS a matter of fact I am a GSM and I am on my last enlistment right now thank god. I am running a recruiting station in Collinsville Il right now but in six long months I am going back to the fleet to DDG 98 and man I cant wait. WHere are you at now are you still active or retired? I will send some pic's tonight as soon as I get home. I have been trying to build with that mentality in mind but I am really taking my time on this build. And at the same time getting ready to build a rigger. So busy.

Boy, talk about getting off-topic!

I'm surprised that you found a Falk Marine hull as they've been out of business for a few years that I know of. If memory serves, Joe Weibelhaus bought one and didn't have much luck with it. If anyone can get one to run decently, Joe can and couldn't.
