my Bryant furnace stopped working again....the furnace tech thinks the inducer motor is going down hill and a new one costs $ 800.00....I just paid him close to $ 300.00 for a ignitor repair don't know what to do....should I get a new furnace ....sure wish I knew a truly honest furnace tech...bob

Bob your story is sad one since what you paid so far for the ignitor replacement is a common rip off. You Must find another tech to check your furnace, the first guy Ripped you really bad if that was really the problem. The ignitor is a $15 part and 10 min job to install. So 1 hr min @ $100 and $25 for the part is $125. A new tech is what you need.

Bob,

I agree with Tim. New serviceman for sure.

I worked for a Bryant dealer for close to 20 years

and a new furnace wholesale is only $800.00.

Inducer motor is around $60.00 tops

Igniter is $15.00 to $20.00 depends on what model.

What is the model and serial number of your furnace?

Let Me Know,

Mark Sholund

mark , my furnace is a 15 year old BYRANT PLUS 90 I model 355MAV ,047680....please read my response to joe wiebelhaus....if I decide to buy a new unit is it possible that maybe you could some how recommend a installer in my area , buffalo , Niagara falls ny.....thanks...bob

Bob,

I have owned two of those furnaces in my last two houses.

I think they are the best on the market. I have just replaced

an igniter after 13 years. The other one was trouble free all

of the seven years that I lived in that house. I did install both

of these units and you have to make sure you install them per

the instruction manual. I do not know the Bryant dealers in your

area. I love the DC drive blower motor and how quiet the furnace

runs. They come with a 10 year parts and labor warranty so unless

you were out of warranty it should of been no charge. I see yours

was 15 years old and not many new furnaces are going to be trouble

free for 15 years. I would buy another one in a heartbeat.

Sorry,

Mark Sholund
