Does anyone make or stock 3/16 hardened shaft like the old Dumas ? Working on an old restoration, not currently able to heat treat here. Thanks.

Mark what length do you need? I have some up home in Michigan, both 3/16” and 1/4”, not new but in good condition. You can use drill rod if you use lead Teflon or ball bearings, it’s not hardened so needle bearings will eat it up in a hurry. We head north the first of May and I can take pictures for you. Yours for the ride.

Thanks guys, helping a very old pal rehab an old Stinger Lil Hoss 40 boat, he is doing over as when he raced it. I may have found an old Dumas shaft here, I will message you John. Need heat treated as the stuffing box and the strut are all B36 needle bearings. Too much to do just a shaft Virgil but I will see you soon on those drums I need help with !!!! Thank you again.

Check with Motion Industies . What you need is Thompson 60 case shafting. It comes in all standard inch and metric sizes. It will work with needle bearings.

I always made mine with oil hardening drill rod . Put in drill.press , heat cherry red and quench in oil in a pvc tube . This goes back to my original Drag n Fly in 79 !

Josh, when the flywheel gets there, pull the address from the label and send the shaft, should work out for us both as a swap !!!!
