i have a old tornado outrigger that was setup for 12 cell. i am converting it to brushless. what esc would i need i put a fiergo 8L motor in it.

Is that an old Graupner Tornado hull? If so it is not really suitable for either 12 nickel or 4S LiPo power. It is a small boat, I ran mine on 8 nickel cells with a brushed motor and that was about all it would handle. If that is indeed the hull you have, it would work a lot better as a 2S boat with a 7S motor and 120 amp controller. I am not aware of another electric rigger with that name.
