New guy to the rigger world, so i figure i would ask the experts. What prop would be a good starter prop for the JAE 21 rigger. Brand, Prop number, and where to get it would be helpful. Thanks, Roger.

Roger, Mark Sholund can supply a great prop for this boat. Octura 1450.

I was told a ABC H-7 and Octura 1450 are great starting props.

Roger,

We are actually doing a newer version 1450 with a H-7 profile that is working very well

in testing right now. This is a totally custom propeller for $45.00 + $5.00 for postage.

We have tested quite a few propellers on the JAE-21 boat and a ABC 1518/3 works quite

well also, it will depend on your motor and pipe combination on which is the right one for

your set up.

From past history, among many, I believe you will find that a full blade 1450 will be too large of a prop to perform properly for most 20 riggers. It is a 50MM diameter prop and you will find that most really good 1450 worked props are reduced to the 45/46MM dia size. That reduces the wheel size but retains the pitch that is desirable for speed.

A 1445 pitched up, a 1450 reduced, and a H-7 are very good starting points. I have had decent success with the 1600 and 1700 series props too. Mark S. is correct, the entire package makes the difference and determines what you end up with.
