Tom I run a AB parabolic with transom exhaust. You could always run a muffler on it if you wanted even quieter.

Cooper quiet pipes work very good also. We run one in our OPS powered sport 40 and I have checked it with a DB meter on the pit table and it was 88db and on the water it's around 80db.

The Cooper add on muffler works good too.

The old Irwin muffled pipe works for sure.
Tom. If you can hunt down one of these Irwin Muffled pipes be sure to buy it. I had one on a Sport 40 and the guys at Elmira thought I was running an electric. lol.
I remember Randy, guess what Tom I found one hanging in the shop. PM me your addy, use it and if it works, we'll talk. ;) ......==={}

Go on eBay and order one of Jeremy's muffled 46 SPP's. You will be very happy with his pipes!!!

The Novarossi muffled pipe is a good option also
Might have been a bad sound weather day, but my NR 46 pipe tested at 89 dbA on the one day we tested it. On a different day I switched to the CMB Quiet pipe and that tested below 85 dbA. Depending on the weather, we have noticed up to a 6 dbA swing in readings.

But, with extensive testing we have gas boats running over 65 mph and at a 80 dbA average. The add-on mufflers need to be longer than the T-mod mufflers to get to those numbers. A friend designed his own add-on muffler for his gas sport hydro and the boat runs from 73 - 81 dbA depending on weather and runs 65 mph all day long. The muffler is twice as long as the T-Mod muffler. It is a straight-through design, but the internal stinger forces some of the sound waves to change direction 180 degrees.

Tom, I've been thinking about this more. I'm not going to write off the NR 46 muffled pipe yet as a good option for a super quiet setup. I think I will build an add-on muffler for the NR 46 muffled pipe. This could be a faster and quieter setup than the CMB Quiet pipe depending on your motor. My concern is that the CMB pipe has a larger volume than the NR 46 pipe, and I'm not sure if that is good or bad for the NR 46 engine, so I want to try it. D Hydro could be a competitive class next year at the bigger D1 races. Though, your VAC 45 might want the larger volume that the CMB pipe has.

One problem with the CMB Quiet pipe is that there is no external stinger to mount an add-on muffler if you want to make it more quiet. But, it's design lends itself perfect for water injected muffling. There is no chance of water getting trapped in the muffled chamber like could happen on other designs.

Tom,

The pipe I was recommending is the Nitro pipe from CMB, not their quiet pipe. Their quiet pipe is just an OK pipe. The Nitro pipe is the best on torque and rpm that I have seen.
