This is my first brushless.

In the set up of the Hacker Navy ESC, there are two timing positions for an Aveox motor.

10 and 18 degrees.

Which one should I use?

Hey Larry, It depends on what you want the motor to do.

The different timing and frequency settings will allow you to "Tune" the motor for the boat and prop you are running.

If you want longer run times and less speed, go with the 10 degree timing. Fast and less run time, go with the 18.

Swinging a big prop? tune it down to keep the amp draw lower.
