hi! i'm in the planning process right now of building a 20" jetski type boat. i will be using a graupner mini jet drive for this project since i already got 2 of them. my question is what size of a motor should i use? i think i can only fit a 540 size motor in it or smaller. the motors i have in here is a stock 540 from tamiya. the ones available at LHS are tamiya motors, modified stock and a 540 black motor. will a graupner 400 or 480 size motor better than a stock 540?

thanks!

ernest

the 480's will give better power to weight but will struggle

use a 36mm can motor - they require a 1/8 shaft

jets do not deliver not high performance so I would use something with low maintenance with 1-2 extra cells

I got just the motor for you. It is 540 sized but packs a punch of motors twice its size. 12v and with a price you cant argue B) http://www.robotcombat.com/marketplace_motorsmisc.html its the 2nd one down, the johnson. Very very powerful motor. The only thing is the shaft is rather short. And you may not want 12v of power.

Phil B) ;) :)
