That is cool info JA! I would really like to try it! Maybe I will build a tether boat pond in my yard!!

Somewhere I still have the notes on the bridal for both the tether boat & the tether car. Very small changes in the position & the design of the bridal, in both cases, greatly effects how the model reacts. Jack O'Donnell has great insight into what needs to be done.

If you happen to run across them one day I would love to have a copy!

It sounded like the boat would get close to topping out in RPM (speed) and then the boat would start losing the prop... Maybe blowing out the back end.

I have a good tether car vid somewhere. the car in this vid is turning some RRRRRR's

A tether comeback ???

all those safety directors out there would probably have a conniption from seeing people in the water with a running boat.

Don't think I didn't notice (-; I was wondering of he was gonna move, as long as he took - one slip....I know it's on a tether running a fixed diameter circle, but it looked like the boat was running AWFULLY close to the docks. Some of then tether car vidoes are just crazy. Running so fast, the camera's frame rate can't keep up enough to show smooth video. The background is fine, but the car has jumped toward like 10-15 feet every time it appears on the screen.

Yea, the guy in the green shorts was making me a little nervous at first!

Same thought - and agreed Rrrobin , 1 slip .

Having watched a bunch of other tether videos , it looks inherently dangerous - the starting method / loading the motor / the amount of people waaay too close to the business end ect....

Looks fun as hell , but I dont ever see it flying here again in todays society unless done at a private non sanctioned event- sad.

I have been running tether cars for some 35 years. The first time I saw a t/c run,i said to myself how hard can that be. Boy did I find out. they are VERY technical. At 200 mph they will pull approximately 100 Gs. trying to make the engine carburet with 100 g on fuel system is very hard. A few years back I got some drawings from Jim Allen on his bell valve induction system. So far the bell valve has been the fastest. The engines are simulator to what we use in our boats. The main difference is the t/c run on 80% methanol & 20% caster oil . No nitro. Back to the boat forum. J.
