I get a lot of phone calls about scale kits, and over the last few months, the few Extreme kits I offer have been a popular topic. Most builders are unsure of what to expect from them. I had a customer send me a good deal of pics of his 173 Gas Extreme Kit build yesterday, and I wanted to share these with you. The 173 and 158 gas extreme kits are very similar, with the non trip outside edge being the main difference. Both kits, like the smaller 1/8th scale Extreme kits, all share a lot of extras that really help build an extremely nice kit. They use thinner framing where possible to reduce overall weight, cockpit jigs are included so the cockpit curvature works with the RCboatcompany.com matching cowlings, most are 3 piece builds meaning you build the center separate from the sponson/ nontrips to ensure a nice, flat, square build, the ride surfaces and center section bottoms have the latest technology's to handle today's power and water conditions. This formula has been tested by racers that use my sport hydro kits, as well as the extreme scale kits...and they are out there winning races in the worst of conditions. Hope these build pics will help put some visuals along with the explanations I have been sharing!

I have to say that I am very impressed with this kit. It does build a lot quicker and is much easier to get it straight and flat. I built an 8255 last winter and this hull is more complex but easier to build (at least so far) lol. Lots of sanding to do this weekend then start the bottom sheeting.
