The question:

Is a stock Miss Vegas, a legal sport 20 class IMPBA boat?? (octura y535 prop)

I know it miight not be real competitive in speed, but from what I can find, it is legal to run it in sport 20 class.

Might be fun to see how it does.

Thoughts?

Thanks all,

Dan

Yes it's legal....Some guys are running Nova's CMB;s and O.S.21 turbo...just have to beef up the center section where the motor sits at..theres threads on making them that way in the RTR forum...

Yes it's legal, Go for it! Be forwarned that you'll be running a 30mph boat in traffic with boats running in the 50's

I think the length and width of it makes it Legal to Run. I've seen some guys put 21 in vegas's an see then run with the 21 class. Just depends I guess what clubs allow it. The newer Vegas's can race side by side with some sport 20's.

I appreciate the feedback.

Thanks to Kevin S. for the quick e-mail.

I figure it's not much different than when they had us run our sport 20's with the B hydros!

Ya have to finish!

Thanks,

Dan

The engine fits the displacement rules and the boat overall runs fast (I have personally won a sport 20 race with a 18 powered Vegas).

I would not worry about the slightly slower speeds.. Heck with that.. just set the boat up the best you can and have fun! I think you will find you will be further up the podium then you might think at the end of the day!

ROCK ON!

I COMPLETLY agree with that statement! At a 1 day race a coupla months ago a new boater showed up with a MV(not a Duece) with an OS 18 TZ and because we we didnt have enough RTRs to make a class that day, he ran in sport 21... I have a 20 Whiplash with a Marty Davis prepped Mac 21(Grimracer prop SAY IT!)so needless to say its a pretty darn good runnin boat when i get the needle right..Well, in the last heat,he got himself in lane one and i was in two and despite everything i tried to do to get by him, long story short, i got my butt kicked!! Though i had some speed on him, his boat was just fast enough and he did just a great job of stayin in lane one that he just flat beat me fair and square! I would NEVER under estimate what a little ol MV or MV Duece can do!! :)

Bill in a District race that boat would be illegal for sport20 the strut must come up from the bottom of the boat to be legal in namba

Gotcha Robert...thats kinda the neat thing about the one day races..rather than send a new boat racer back to Orlando, he was given an opportunity to get some stick time..and now we have a regular RTR racer..and he brought a buddy who also raced an RTR...bottom line.....we got some new blood in a class that needed more boats and im sure they will be showing up at the distict races to run RTR...everyone wins!! :)
