Im going to build an micro outrigger about 14" long or so. Im going to power it with a 400 size brushless I think on lipo 3 cell. Is this about right? So the question to you electric experts, what is the hot setup? Which 400 motor? ESC, brand, amp? Any help will be appreciative, I want to make this a fun project, but still as fast as possible. Yeah, Im a nitro guy B)

Thanks fellas,

Mega is a great brand it seems for micro's they have a variety of winds. I would say try for 30,000 to 35000 Rpm, free running, meaning if you have a 3000 KV motor multiply by 3S lipo (x11.1V) =33300 not a bad place to start. Start with a x427 prop and go up.

This is just a shot in the dark to some degree but for more experience setups, try www.microhydro.com , there are alot of nice proven setups in there, motors are better now so speeds are going way up.

Larry,

I've got a couple micro setups that work pretty well. I have a 15" H&M shovel nose hydro with a Mega 16/15/2 running with a Castle Creations Mamba 25 esc and 6 GP2000 A size cells. This boat runs in the low 30's with a detongued x430. This would be a perfect micro rigger setup. I like the NiMH cells just for the durability and general user friendliness.

The second setup is in an 18" MHZ cat. Motor is a 1110/1Y Neu, ESC is an old schultze Po55c car s controller, 6 gp2000's again. Again it runs in the 30's with this setup and an x430. This boat also holds the NAMBA N2 O/S SAW record at 43mph, changes were: a cut Y535, CC B-80 ESC and GP3300's.

The first setup would really work well in a tiny rigger.
