which one is a better performer .... the speedmaster 21 or the seaducer 21, i've heard that the speedmaster is a copy of the seaducer? is this true?

I dont think you could go wrong with either one. I've owned both, and they're both great boats. I prefer the Speedmaster out of the two you've listed.

I'd pick the Speedmaster it's a good straight boat easy to set up.

The Speedmaster is not a copy of any boat.

I had Seaducer mount their tank and hardware for me. It sure was worth the money. Mount the radio and run some water lines and you are done!

I don't run either boat,I have a Microburst, but my observation has been that the Seaducer is better in rough water.

My Speedmaster does pretty well in the rough water. I bought this over a Seaducer because of price but still feel that I made the right move. This boat was so easy to set up, on it's Maiden voyage all I had to do was adjust the carb. Nothing wrong with Microburst's, I have it in the 7.5 size.

There is another boat that looks like a Seaducer, the Newbycraft.

I had a .21 ducer was a good little boat. As far as rough water, the lake i run on gets real rough and i couldnt run it.

Both seem to be good boats.

I would go with the ducer, just cause i owned on.

I'd have to disagree. The new Speedmaster is much more forgiving in rough water than a Seaducer. At the Internats, the water was as rough as I've seen it and my Speedmaster neverhooked or dumped. The older Speedmasters and the Seaducers were all over the place. My son sold his Microburst that only had 1 race on it after seeing my Speedmaster.

I believe he meant seaducer. Likes his Speedmaster so much it's in his thoughts :D :D :D :D :D :D

I have them both the Speedmaster and the Microburst. Did not get much of a chance to run the Speedmaster last summer, could not get the new purple head Nova Rossi to crank, untill, towards end of season I called Gary and asked him why I couldn't get the motor to crank. Found out the new purple head out of the box the timing is at 124   , Anyway Gary has the motor, I will run it in the speedmaster, but the way it handled, Yes, I hate to say it it's better than my 21 microburst. The flip side of that is that it's made by Chris Fabro. I heard he came out with another version of the 21. I also saw a 7.5 Speedmaster but it's not for production, bummer. Maybe chris will change his mind. Personally I never liked the way the seducers handle. It's not a forgiving hull.

my nickles worth.

:p I did run test between Speedmaster 20 mono and Seaducer SD3 20 mono both use my MAC.21 last year and It are both of very good but depend good drive "Pro" so I can see compared : Speedmaster 20 good corner and striaght about 47 mph another SD3 20 mono good corner and striaght about 52 mph. because SD3 doesnt need trim tabs less drag!!! I like my faver SD3 monos..

I should have said Seaducer. I'm comaring the new Speedmaster. The one without the deep tunnel in the deck. If you have the old hull, it runs way differant than the current version.

The SD3 may run over 50 by itself but in a race, they are a hand full. My boat's maden run was the firs theat of the Internats. By the second heat, it was among the fastest boats at the race. By the end of the season, I had it dialed in and to me it's the best heat racing boat I've had. My son raced it against 40 monos and 40 cats in the novice class and had no problem keeping up with the bigger boats.

Hi Joe,

Are you running the new Speedmaster Mono? Where did you set the cg? I have the older version of this hull with a New Mac 21, 440/3, and a very short ops pipe with a 21 muffler. She run 47 mph all day long but she gets kind of loose when other boats is in the water. I'm also a big fan of ducers but I love the way my speedmaster runs. Now if I can only keep here on the water would be nice. By the way I set-up the boat to the teeth on the specs I got from Speedmaster.

I set my boat up by the specs as well. The new boat has a differant bottom that makes it handle better at high speeds. It only has 1 set of strakes that ends at the cg. It never gets loose like the older design. Untimately, I think it will be faster than an SD3 because it is way lighter and runs tighter than the SD3. You can overcome mechanical downforce with the Speedmaster but you can not overcome the weight of an SD3.

Tony J's SD3 is heavier without a motor than my Speedmaster is with the motor.

boaterbill you said thst the novarossi has the timming set at 124? is this the purple square head one? what does it need to be for best performance? has anyone tried mounting the radio box infront of the motor and putting the fuel tanks in the back?

Thats because the speedmaster has only been out a couple of years. Give it time it will be there ive had both the speedmaster is the boat to have hands down.

Just my 2 cents

:) Thats fact: SD3 20 Length 29 inch , Width 10 inch and weigh about 2lb/ 2oz another Speedmaster 20 Length 28 inch, Width 9 inch and weigh about 1lb/ 12oz No different 6oz SD3 little heavy than light Speedmaster 20 but depend different weigh engine.21( KB.21,OS.21,NovaRossi.21.CMB.21,Picco.21.Rossi.21,OPS.21 and MAC.21) Who want use it also depend size tank on where balance CG. Good Luck!!
