Just wondering about different locations of the prop in relation to the rudder, before, beside or after? There are lots of rudder extensions out there in different lengths available to move it further back or dose this work better for monos? Also the turn fin, bottom front edge of the blade at the balance point or in the case of the KEP's boat it is well ahead of the balance point and how does this affect the reaction of the turning on the boat? Its winter up here in the north and time to work on boat and repair the carnage from the season. It will be a while before repairs can be painted but it would be nice to get the setup right beforehand and as always it will have to be fine tuned from there, but thats when the water gets soft again.

Probably a million answers. On my boats the best has always been to have rudder in front of the prop in clean water.

On models with surface propellors best place for a rudder is before the drivedog to avoid the turbulence of the water thrust cone. The lenght of the rudder blade must be enough to keep the boat controlled..Gill

Most Hardware mfgers use the same ole standard to determine the length of the brackets used on rudder brackets and strut placement.. The Standard Is.......... Leading edge of the rudder in-line with the leading edge of the prop. I personally like to keep the rudder as close as possible to the transom. So my props are always well behind the rudder blade and the prop thrust is too. p.s. lay a small straight edge across the working side of the prop (back side) while install onto boat of choice. Rotate it around to the rudder side to see if you clear the rudder blade?. This is the angle the water will be exiting off the prop. It needs to be behind the rudder blade so the water or prop thrust cone is Not being thrusted into the blade while running.... Hopes this helps you understand it better?
