Has anyone tried Lipo's in a Aquacraft Super Vee 27 ? It seems to me that that would be a great setup. The 6 cell 3800mah nicads that are used most weigh twice as much as a 2 cell 3700mah Lipo setup at darn near the same voltage. Any ideas or comments are always appreciated! Thanks

This boat uses 2 - 6 cell packs in series, for 14.4 volts.

Use a MIN. 5000 mAmps total for lipos to be the same as 4000 mAmp ni cells.

The voltage of a 12 cell IB4200 pack is 1.16v at 45 amps out to about 2.8AH approximatley 14.1v under load mass is 804gm

The voltage under load of Thunderpower 5000 4S pack at 45 amps is 14.6 volts. Mass 457gm

The lipo will have to be moved well forward to balance the boat properly. ALready there are issues withthis hull being too flighty

ALso you should be careful about the effect of long run times on motor and esc heat and there is the issue of over capitalising - the pack is about the same price as the whole boat

There are cheaper heavy 5AH packs which would work better. We can supply 20 C 4700 lipo which is 540gm and half the price of thunderpower and more than up to the demands of the motor

With lipo the boat will be faster however you have to sort that bakance issue before you lay down you money or you will be bedevileld with an unstbale boat

Already there are issues withthis hull being too flighty
I have to partially disagree with that.

The boat is not "too" flighty if run the way it was intended....RTR out of the box. Yeah it gets a little loose at the end of a long straight, but I'd rather have too loose than stuck to the water.

They're a blast when raced OOTB.

The part I'd agree with is that if I were going to run 14+ volts of lipos in a mono, it wouldn't be with this hull.

Doug

I bow to your experience re the hulls characteristics - just recounting what I had read in forums and seen in videos which may be more foten toward attempts at max speed

Perhaps because of our bigger ovals I tend to run a hulls a little wetter than I have seen the EV27 run.
